g.c.d Studios makes me feel Merry

I was so excited when the mailman arrived with the latest g.c.d Studio's holiday collection: Christmas Sleigh. Oh my gosh you guys this range is sooooo beautiful. It was so hard to decide what to use for my cards for 2 Sketches 4 You this week - you see g.c.d Studio's is sponsoring this collection to one lucky winner. The 2S4Y DT all made two different cards from this collection so there is tons of inspiration for your holiday crafting needs. Remember if you have already made your Holiday cards then this range is perfect to scrap those Christmas memories! I am sure you are going to love it as much as I do.
Here is my second card from the g.c.d Studio's Christmas Sleigh Collection:
Hope your week has started off bright and fresh. See you back in a few days.

Moxie Fab Old Country

I love vintage so I was super excited to use some of my V-stash for the latest challenge on Moxie Fab World.  Cath posted some super images featuring Christmas in the Old Country to serve as inspiration for our projects. On this card I used paper music paper purchased at the Paris Flea Market here in Colorado. The darling cherub is from a vintage store at the Stamp Exo in Colorado Springs.  I love all of the labels from Spellbinders - on this card I used the fabulous Labels 5 for the sentiment tag.  Other embellishments are from K&Company.
I will be spending quite a bit of time on projects over the next few days but right now we are just about to do some Holiday decorations around the house - taking advantage of the glorious weather we are experiencing for this time of year.
.
Hope your day is a good one!

BBTB is too Tweet :)

Once again it was great to work with my Expression to design a card for Bitten by the Bug.  This week the whole DT worked with this darling little bird cut from the Story Book Cartridge.  I kept it very simple just layering paper and ribbon on a clear acrylic base.  Everyone else did such a gorgeous job with this design  (om-goodness this cut can be used for a 100 different occasions) - take a peek at what they did at BBTB.
.
I am playing catch up over the next two weeks.  I am predicting a very busy Holiday season so I need to try and stay on top of things..hopefully I can get my Christmas cards made AND some teacher goodies too - Okay that might be seriously wishful thinking but I will try - stranger things have happened...
Have a great rest of your week

Creative Cuts & More Mega Blog Hop

Holiday Treats Apron Recipe Album

I am super excited to share with you today my FIRST Mini Album - eva!  This album is part of the Creative Cuts & More Mega Recipe Blog Hop which features the Apron Holiday Treats Recipe Kit.  There are 24 designers showcasing wonderful pages and yummy Holiday Treat recipes.

.

As part of the celebration CC&M will be having a great sale. For the next six days, they will offer 20% off the entire store. But act quickly, it is only for six days – this sale will end on Nov 14th. Make sure you enter this code during checkout:

 recipebloghop2009

As a continuing part of the celebration CC&M will of course give away great gifts. Each day they will give away one kit. Here is the twist – go through the blog hop, leave wonderful comments for the great designers. After you have finished the blog hop, return to Die Cut Diva and instead of leaving a comment, you need to share a recipe to have a chance at winning the kit. Share the recipe on your blog and link it back and get another chance to win the kit.  This challenge is also a great recipe swap - SUPER!

I decided to make super easy  truffles because they are reeeeaally good and easy to make.

Simply Sensational Truffles

By Bakers

Ingredients:

2.5 (20 squares) Bakers semi-sweet chocolates

1 pkg (8 oz) Philadelphia Cream Cheese

Chopped Nuts for Decoration

Melt 8 chocolate squares. Beat cream cheese with mixer until creamy.  Blend in melted chocolate.  Refrigerate until firm.  Shape 36 balls (make them smaller because this is a super rich desert). Place on wax paper covered baking sheet.  Melt remaining chocolate.  Use fork to dip truffles; return to baking sheet. Decorate with nuts and refrigerate 1 hour.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog.  For more details on this gorgeously cute Holiday Treats Apron Recipe Album kit take a look here: CC&M .  Now I am sure you are ready to see what Rachel Hope Baird has made and remember if you get lost along the way you can always catch up with all the designers at Die Cut Diva.

Have a great Tuesday

Halloween Pictures to share...

Halloween this year was picture perfect in Colorado.  There was plenty of snow on the ground yet the evening was chilly but not cold.  Everyone in our friend's neighborhood did such a wonderful job decorating and of course it was so delightful to see little ones dashing from door to door getting their treats as the sun was setting over the Rockies in the distance.  Ashton was a Cattleheart Butterfly and Alex was a Fairy Princess. Our friends dressed their little ones as the adorable Bo Peep with her Lambie (she was way to cute to be a Sheep!).
.
Thank you everyone for all my B/day wishes both here and on facebook.  I had a awesome day - and am still celebrating ;)  Your sweet & thoughtful wishes made my day even more special.

Tattered Angels Blog Relay

Spellbinders teamed up with Tattered Angels to bring you a Blog Relay extraordinaire.  Some of the Spellbinders Design team have made projects using Spellbinders Die-Templates and Tattered Angels Products.  Holly Simoni has a beautiful layout on her blog which you can see at Wild Wyoming Girl.   Next up after me is Karen Taylor who will be revealing her project on Oct 20th, so be sure to bookmark that on your calendar - her work is fabulous.
.
For this project I used the Spellbinders Die-Template S7-051, Holiday Lights Border Grand.  I love how versatile Spellbinders products are - Holiday lights are not just for the Holidays: This Dress Form was inspired by my love for Fashion and Project Runway!
Here is a summary of how I put this look together:
1. Using Tattered Angels divine Glimmer Mist products gently spray even layers onto 12x12 white cardstock.  I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Sand (61130), Candy Apple Red (02752) and Haunted Shadow (61180).  The combination of the three colors created this rosy pink effect with a glimmer of gold - yum!
2. Cut cardstock into 2.5 wide strips.  Run the die-template and sandwich plates through your Wizard.  I cut several strips to complete the skirt.  Starting from the bottom work your way around the torso by adhering strips with adhesive.
3.  I wanted the bodice to match the skirt so I simply dipped my paint brush into the Glimmer Mist and painted the bodice directly onto the torso. I used all 3 colors and layered them, one on top of the other to complete the look.
4. Finish by lining the neckline with sparkly gems and tying a shimmering bow around the waist.
.
I hope that I have managed to inspire you to use some of your own products in a different & unique way.   Please let me know if you post something on your own blogs - I would love to stop by.  Have a fantastic weekend.   See you all Monday.
.
Take care

Spellbinders and Tattered Angels are taking part in a blog relay and this is my sneak peak for you.  I will do my full reveal of my project on Saturday.  Can I just say that Glimmer Mist is a fantastic product which I can certainly get slightly addicted too *wink*!

Creative Cuts & More

Denver went from Summer to full blown Winter with snow in one day.  Whatever happened to Fall?  Well it seems that the weather people are suggesting that by the weekend we will return to our more typical Fall weather which makes me VERY happy for 2 reasons:
.
  • Fall happens to be my favourite time of year and I love to bake, decorate and do all things Fallish.  So if that was it - 24 hours!  I am SO not going to be happy ;)
  • Kev's entire family will be here this weekend for a huge family reunion and we are hosting a huge dinner at our house on Saturday so I was seriously hoping for some milder to warmer weather so we can be outside!
Staying true to my word about loving Fall, I got busy creating a Fall card and gift box using Laura's fun sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You AND I used the amazing product from Creative Cuts & More who happen to be sponsoring this week *wink*.  Head on over to see 2S4Y to see the amazing work of the Team - they ROCKED this one - and also enter to stand a chance of winning your own Creative Cuts & More goodies.
.
I am off to do some organising - wish me luck will ya :)

My 15min of Fame with Creating Keepsakes

*Whoot-Toot*
Om-gosh you guys while I was at CHA with Spellbinders I was asked by Megan Hoeppner from Creating Keepsakes Magazine to do a demonstration of the new Spellbinders Impressabilities.
First of all to meet Megan in person was so amazing. She is very attractive, very kind and endearing and has a great sense of humor too.  Add to that mix of genetics, a resume to admire including the Creative Editor of Creating Keepsakes Magazine, it was no wonder I was a serious bunch of nerves to do a demonstration on CAMERA!  (and those of you who know me in person know that one thing I am not and that is timid and shy *lol*)...anyway here is my 15min of fame with Megan Hoeppner on the Creating Keepsakes Blog, demonstrating different techniques with Spellbinders Impressabilities:

Ribbon & Snowflakes

I was so excited to work with the Sponsor for this week at 2 Sketches 4 You.  May Arts is a ribbon wholesaler that have a fantastic selection of some of the most gorgeous ribbon eva.   I wish I had my camera with me and taken a picture of their booth at CHA - It was beyond gorgeous and would appeal to anyone that has ever loved a bow, barrette or gift wrap.  You can get your hands on some May Arts ribbon - just head on over to 2S4Y and play along with us this week.
If working with May Arts ribbon was not enough how about combining a card with my other love: Snowflakes!  Yep that is exactly what I did here - the soft green ribbon is May Arts and the Snowflake is Cricut. The Bitten by the Bug Team worked with the ultra cute snowflake from the Accent Essentials Cart.  All the creations are darling and certainly put me in the mood for some Christmas in July festivities - snow cones anyone? Ha!   Hop on over and take a look at all the eye candy here:
Alrighty then - I guess it is time to get my day started...amazing how a weekend can add to my chore list faster than I can write a blog post :)
Hope your week is a good one.

Laura's Sketch 31 & CHA was magnificent!

The Winner of the BBTB Blog Hop is:
Number 15
Jen Young
Who said: Great card! It's pretty! Thanks for the opportunity to win some yummy blog candy!

Here are your random numbers:

Timestamp: 2009-08-02 13:54:05 UTC

Congrats Jen.  Thanks for the sweet comment.  Please email me your addy and I will get those goodies off to you!
I was so excited to play with Laura's Sketch 31 because JustRite Stamps are sponsoring this week.  I used the fab Harmony Classic Oval Stamper II Stamp Ensemble on my card and some divine Cosmo Cricket paper too.  You still have time to enter and win $100 worth of JustRite Stamp goodies, but you need to hurry - competition ends tonight at midnight!
What can I say about CHA? It was unbelievable, fantastic and oh so amazing.  This is a picture of the Spellbinders booth.  We had so much fun demonstrating the Wizard and the new die-templates released this year.   There were make-'n-takes, new techniques learned and a whole lot of laughter.  Words can not even begin to explain how amazing the group of people who work at Spellbinders are.  It is like family but only better :)  I had a blast at the Spellbinders booth - and I am sure there are a few story's from CHA that will support that theory - some true and some embellished but all good *wink*
Here the Spellbinders group are waiting for a table at Bubba Gumps.  We knew we were in for a great time at CHA when we started the trip off with a Group 'Meeting' at this fun restaurant at Universal Walk.  I hear it was Beth that suggested to the staff that it was my 21st Birthday.  How fun to celebrate it for a second time (standing on a chair) with everyone singing to me!  Yea that is one of the story's about me (true) to emerge from CHA.
Some of my favorite places/products had Booths in Orlando.  It was isle after isle of pure inspiration.  I cannot even begin to explain what wonderful new products are being released over the next few months - all I know is that I want them all!
There were quite a few celebrity sightings including the uber talented and equally cute Tim Holtz at the Ranger booth.  Then there were the amazing guys at My Mind's Eye (love their paper) and lets not forget the Cute Fancy Pants Boys.  Then I was really excited to meet Maren Benedict who is one of Paper Crafts new Go to Gal.  Melissa Francis (and her Hubby) was a pleasure to talk to and looks amazing :) I also had the surreal experience of meeting the editors of Creating Keepsake and the very talented mother and daughter team from When Creativity Knocks.  I know there are a ton more but I know you get the idea :) because I could gush on and on for a few more paragraphs.
There were also many blogger friends to meet.  I had the pleasure of chatting to the amazing and sweetest Debbie Olson - another CHA story about me about that meeting and I  have to admit that it is true too *wink*.  I had fun meeting Broni, Millie and Jeannie.  Oooh lets not forget Becca and Sherry.   Kelly from JustRite Stamps is so much fun and super sweet..Om-gosh this list could go on and on too....  Last but not least I had a lovely evening with some of the 2 Sketches 4 You Designers that live in the area.  Latisha, Angela and Lori met us for dinner - love you girls and am glad I have you as friends 4eva!
.
I am back home now in Denver and I am still thinking about CHA.  I personally cannot wait for Anaheim!
Happy Saturday

Bitten by the Bug Blog Hop & Candy

I am so glad to be back designing again for Bitten by the Bug.  I took a little break over the summer but now things are moving forward full force.  This week the BBTB Design Team all worked with the super cute Couple cut from the Going Places cart.  The other Designers all did an awesome job with this cut which you can see here: Bitten By the Bug
This week a few of the Designers from Bitten by the Bug are participating in a Blog Hop.  It is a fun way for you all to get to know our blogs and get some yummy Blog Candy along the way.  I am giving away some cute embellishments for your cards or pages.  All you need to do to win is leave me a comment here before you hop on over to Michele Kovak's Blog.  I will randomly pick a winner for my Blog Candy on Sunday.
I hope you all have a fantastic week.  I will be checking in here from CHA Orlando - yay! Will post pictures when I get back!

Stampbord - sweet!

Oh boy did I have fun playing with Ampersand Art's Stampbord for 2 Sketches 4 You this week!  This is such an awesome product that is so versatile that you can basically do anything on it with amazing results.  The absorbent, clay coated wood surface gives a clean, pristine image when you stamp or use rub-ons and the tools make carving and etching super easy and fun.  I am hooked on Stampbord AND you can even drill into the wood backing to create jewelry - wow!  The possibilities are endless...
.
For my clipboard project I used 4 pieces of Stampbord.  I hauled out my precious Copic Markers and created the glowing background.  Next I applied the rub-on butterflies and then etched into the Stampbord to create the white highlights.  The rest is pretty basic - a sentiment, bow and voila!  project complete.
.
I have not managed to play at Bitten by the Bug for a few weeks but the fabulous inspiration continues (without me *lol*).   This week the Designers all worked with the delicious Ice-Cream cone from the Indie Cart.  Yummy stuff ladies.  Hope to play along too next week :)
.
Crazy week ahead but all is good!

My fabulous Spellbinders Reveal die templates are …Drum roll please:

         S4-234 Ribbon Tag Trio 2

The set comes with 3 beautiful Tags.  Each tag is so different and so versatile that you will find yourself reaching for them over and over again on your projects.

I would like to share with you today two cards that I made using the Ribbon Tag Trio 2 die templates and one tutorial if you would like to make one for yourself

Seasons Greeting

To make this card you will need the following supplies:

Spellbinders die templates:

s4-208 In-Spades Pendant and S4-234 Ribbon Tag Trio 2

Cardstock: Dark Brown and White

Patterned Paper: 2 Sheets (I used Basic Grey solid and stripe)

Vintage image: Cotton Scraps from Crafty Secrets

Eyelets and a Rub-on sentiment

Tutorial

Step 1

Make the base of your card by cutting and folding the brown cardstock so that your card is 6x6.  Cut the stripe patterned paper into a square measuring 5 1/8 x 5 1/8”.  Mount the square onto white paper and trim so that if forms a neat border.  Mount the squares on red solid patterned paper to form a second border and adhere all to the front of your card.

Using the Spellbinders S4-208 In Spades die template and your Wizard, cut/emboss two Pendants from White Cardstock.

Step 2:

Using the oval tag  from Spellbinders S4-234  Ribbon Tag Trio 2  die templates, cut/emboss a tag, from the brown cardstock.

Step 3:

Position the oval tag  from Spellbinders  S4-234 Ribbon Tag Trio 2 die template, cut side down, over the image.  Secure with a small piece of removable tape.   Flip the die template and image over and emboss using the Wizard and the Spellbinders Embossing Mat.  Carefully trim the image around the embossed edge.  Adhere the image to the cut/embossed brown Oval Tag.

Step 4:

Cut/emboss/stencil the Rectangular Tag from the s4-234 Ribbon Tag Trio 2 die templates.  Trim a ¾” wide trip of red paper and thread through either side of the tag’s openings.  I personally love that these tags have larger openings to accommodate wider ribbon or paper and make for easier threading.  Adhere the tag and paper strips to your card with large eyelets on either side.  Stack one s4-208 In Spades Pendant die cut on top of another using a foam dot.

Step 5:

Trim two pieces of solid paper to form banner points.  Fold slightly for dimension and thread through the side openings of the Oval Ribbon Tag.  Adhere completed oval ribbon tag to the center of the In-Spades Pendant with a foam dot.

The following is another card I made featuring Spellbinders Ribbon Tag Trio 2 die templates

Spellbinders Die Templates:

S4-234 Ribbon Tag Trio 2

I2-1001 Impressabilities Paisley

S4-229 Labels 5

Ribbon Tag Trio 2 Die Templates

Measurements

Mac Mae Card Kits!

I was so excited to work on the May Kit from Mac Mae  Card Kits for 2 Sketches 4 You.  Their paper and embellies are so well put together that making a Card (using a 2 Sketches 4 You Sketch of course) is a piece of cake.   They have so much product that you could easily make a bunch of cards or for that matter some pretty awesome scrapbook pages.   The 2 Sketches 4 You Design Team worked with the July, June Kits and all did an amazing job...AND here is the good news:
*Mac Mae Card Kits are offering a special on their July Kits AND a sale on their other kits!!!  Quite amazing stuff :) Details at 2S4Y*
.
I am spending the last week with my parents before they go back.  This is a bittersweet week for us - bitter because they are leaving but oh so sweet because I got to spend the most amazing time with them here in Colorado.  Oh boy living so far away from your family is NOT easy!

Soo here is wishing you a SWEET week too.

Spellbinders & a simple Thank You

I am having a fantastic time on the Spellbinders Design Team.  It is always so much fun working with products that you love and the SB DT Girls are so inspiring, so amazing and just plain fun!  It makes for a great mix and I looove it :)
I made this picture frame shadow box using a simple Shadow Box from Target.  I die-cut the Spellbinders Butterfly Reflections and then jazzed them up using Clearsnap's Smooch (YUM!!).   The center scalloped square is another Spellbinders die - this time I used the Classic Scalloped Square Nestabilities which I think are my new fave's - seriously!
So this layout is another Spellbinders Design Team project using my Classic Scalloped Square Nestablities ( See I told you I love them!).  The little star fish are part of a set of other ocean creatures from Spellbinders Shapeabilites - this set is called ShellsThe paper is from Upsy Daisy Designs - so cute!
*if anyone was watching HSN a few weeks ago you might have seen the lovely Kim from Spellbinders demonstrating the fab Wizard and some Spellbinders dies.  Well right next to Kim and the HSN host, on the table you might have noticed this layout!  Yep pretty exciting for us. Alex was very thrilled to see her 'wholeself" on TV - well kindof - my 3min of fame on HSN :)*
Laura dropped by the other day with the most gorgeous flowers and dinner.  Both my Mom and Dad are here from South Africa and it was a very nice surprise.  I am so grateful to have you as a friend (and 2S4y partner).
Hugs LD
.
We are super busy exploring Colorado - hope your week is filled with new discoveries too.

Huge Success

Wow!  is the response we received from around the world after the first week of the 1st Annual 2 Sketches 4 You Ultimate Card Showdown.  We admired and were inspired by over 400 cards - each so creative and beautiful that it was almost impossible to choose 30 Finalists.   Luckily we had the 2S4Y Design Team (past and present) to help us select 30 very talented ladies who are now making cards hoping to be selected as the Top 20.  It is very exciting and so much fun.
***
This is the card I created for this weeks sketch.  I am so in love with vintage at the moment and take any opportunity when I am out and about to find something old and gorgeous to put on my cards.  This image came from a vintage card that I picked up in an Antique shop in Buena Vista, Colorado.
8
I hope to see you on 2 Sketches 4 You because there is another fab giveaway from a cool sponsor.  We are getting ready to head to the airport - My Dad arrives from South Africa today...whooohoooo!

Thanks for stopping by - have a great Monday!

Still not quite Summer...

This is a card I made for some Design Team work at Embellished Scrapbook Shoppe. I worked from one of Ali's sketches and boy is it fun to be creative off someone else's sketch for a change - looove that! It also seems rather fitting to post a card of a snowflake now because Colorado is kind of limping into Summer. Just when the snow/blizzards and all that seemed so last week we get the news to expect a cold front on Friday - now that may or may not mean more snow! Will let you know Friday *wink*
.
Don't forget to comment on my previous post to be eligible to win a RAK from me - Bitten by the Bug has a mini-blog hop going on and several other designers are taking part too. Details just below...

Rock Stars & BBTB Rak

This week we bid a fond farewell to our 2 Sketches 4 You Design Spring Design Team. The past 3 months has been a wonderful journey of sharing & pure inspiration as they delivered their fabulous interpretations on the sketches Laura and I created week after week. I loved working with each each one of you and am going to miss you all at 2S4Y but I will continue to follow your paths on your personal blogs as you are all Card Rock Stars in my eyes. Hugs & Love!
Bitten by the Bug RAK
Doodlecharm's Border Cut was the assignment this week at Bitten by the Bug. I decided to make the cute Fall Leaves border design for my Cookie Presses. I also found this super easy and delicious All-in-One Cookie recipe from Martha Stewart to complete the set. Some of the Design Team members over at Bitten by the Bug are participating in a RAK giveaway on their blogs.
I am giving away this Cookie Press set to someone that leaves me a comment on this post ;) Random Org will randomly select a winner on Sunday! If you would like to see who else is giving away goodies hop on over to Marina Vazquez's Blog *wink*.
Hugs to all of you.
Happy Monday

Once a month Design Team members on Embellished Scrapbook Shoppe comes up with ideas to incorporate product on both cards and layouts. This month we wanted to find fun ways to use our ribbon scraps. I love my ribbon collection and hesitate to throw away even the smallest of offcuts. These taggies are a fun easy way to use those scraps...just take a small section of ribbon, fold over, attach to your card and finish off with a button or two.

Have a fun crafty Friday

Thank You Spellbinders

I have a ton to share this week so let me first begin with a bit of inspiration...
BBTB
B
The Bitten by the Bug team was very fortunate to work with the fantastic vintage images from
. Peggy Loves Vintage . Her images, sold on CD, are soo cute and so much fun to work with. I think this must be my most favorite BBTB challenge so far because I LOVE every single Design Team members project. I bet you will have a hard time picking your favorite too ;) at BBTB
Molly
I bet the name Molly Peckham is familiar to many of you - she is one very talented crafter and on several big name Design Teams - AND she is doing a feature of 2 Sketches 4 You on her blog:
.
.
You are going to love her work - so stop on over and say hi - don't forget to see the 'little' write-up she did about us too - can we say a 'whoot-whoot" :)
Spellbinders
The Spellbinders team returned from the most amazing retreat yesterday. It was 5 days of pure adrenalin energy with the most amazing group of girls eva. Words cannot explain the sensory overload of pure excitement that happened in Phoenix this past week. I am so excited to embark on this journey with Spellbinders and I am even more excited to share with you the most amazing projects. We all love our Nestablities and I promise you that is just the tip of the iceberg..so stay tuned! - oh yes and this picture was taken in our room on the king size bed - lets just say that the Spellbinders Cross Promotional companies were very very good to us all :)
We LOVE you Spellbinders!
Have a fantastic week - Hugs K

I made this card for Laura's 3rd Sketch for the Ett trykk magazine feature on 2 Sketches 4 You. Our friend Aashild Ruud, together with her partner Annie, publishes the magazine in Norway and it really is fabulous - I hope it hits U.S shores in the very near future. You can see Laura's sketch and her interpretation of it on her blog: A Day in the life of the Paper Poppy
.
Denver is experiencing Winter like weather while here in Phoenix it is going to be a gorgeous sunny day. The Spellbinders Team is having a fantastic time together - this is going to be a great year for sure! :) .
Don't forget the 2S4Y Design Team call going on right now over at 2 Sketches 4 You - if you ever wanted to be on a Design Team we would love to see your work.
Have a fantastic Friday

Toot!

It may not seem like it but I have been creating all week but unfortunately have nothing I can share right now. What I can share with you is that one of my projects has been picked up by Scrapbook Trends Holiday Idea Book and I am super excited because it is one of my favs (the publication and the project *lol*).
If you are celebrating Easter this weekend I hope you have a wonderful time with those near & dear to you.

A few Projects

This is the card I made for my final DT submission for Spellbinders. As many of you know I love making shaped cards and my new thing lately also seems to be cake shaped cards :) One of the requirements was that we had to use both the butterflies and hearts on our project. You can find these beautiful die-cuts at: Spellbinders here and here.
This week the Bitten By the Bug team worked with the very cute Bunny on the Doodlecharms cartridge. I could not resist making little noses and whiskers out of twine. All the bunnies are super cute that the Design Team created - take a look here at: BBTB Finally I would like to share with you the 3rd sketch I made for the Norwegian Magazine Ett trykk. This is my card for the sketch. Laura also made a card following my sketch which you can see on her blog: A Day in the Life of the Paper Poppy.
.
I hope your week is going a little less hectic than mine.

More Snow..

It is my turn to post a sketch this week at 2 Sketches 4 You and this is the card I created for it. I looove this paper with the leaf cut-outs :). It would be so nice if you could play along so head on over to 2S4Y and get creative!
.
I would like to say that I will be cozy and warm indoors being creative myself but we have a few appointments this morning on our to-do list. Hope your 1st day of the week is a good one and perhaps a little warmer and dryer than Denver today ;)

Toot x2

This is my card based on Laura's sketch 2 in the February issue of Ett trykk magazine. This magazine is published by our friend Aashild in Norway. You can see Laura's card & sketch on her blog: A Day in the Life of the Paper Poppy.
.
I have a card in the April issue of Cards Magazine. It was such a pleasure last night to tuck the girls in bed and relax reading my latest issue of Cards. There are so many gorgeous works in there from fellow card designers that we all know - including Julie, Dawne and Lulu from the 2 Sketches 4 You Design Team - way to go girls - love your work!

DeNami Design

This is the card I made for Laura's sketch this week at 2 Sketches 4 You. The whole design team were lucky enough to work with the gorgeous stamps from DeNami Design. I love Nami's stamps and her work is beyond gorgeous. For this particular card I used her Love Script Stamp. She is also offering a 10% discount to all 2S4Y players so head on over there and check out her products - you are going to love what you see. Another fun product on this card is the awesome butterfly dies from Spellbinders. I think I have used them on almost every card I have made over the past few weeks - I love how defined and versatile they are. You can find the Butterfly Dies here: Spellbinders (and they are on sale too!) Happy Wednesday :) Kazan

Spring

Spring is in full force here in Colorado, including topsy-turvy weather. Here just South of Denver we are experiencing very mild to warm weather (I am in a t-shirt) and just North of Denver they are not seeing anything - because of blizzards! I love this time of year - my windows are open and I am so energized to create - just have to complete a few little chores before I get to play.
.
Regina is also in the mood for Spring and had her Design Team use the word Spring from the Stretch your Imagination cartridge to create projects for Bitten by they Bug this week! I made this Seed Gift Bag..which is funny because I have never planted anything in my life that has survived. My friend, Sonia, belongs to a Garden club so perhaps I have planted an idea for her to use as favors ;)

Happy Spring
This is my sketch #2 that I did for the 2S4Y article in the Norwegian Magazine, Ett trykk. Laura also made a card based on my sketch and you can see it on her blog: A Day in the Life of the Paper Poppy. I also wanted to share that the Love script stamp is from DeNami Design
.
I admit that I am heading into the weekend with a bit of trepedation - you see this is round two of trying to potty train Alex. She is ready but totally on her terms! It is going to be a long 3 days..wish me luck or survival ;)

Youth Art Month

This week at 2 Sketches 4 You it is my turn to post a sketch and we have a special event to go along with it. March is Youth Art Month and we are giving away prizes for the junior cardmaker too. My oldest daughter, Ashton, made a card for this occasion too. I was beaming with pride because at 4 1/2 I think she did a fabulous job. I know it looks more like a medieval structure but she actually drew a birthday cake and colored it with Sakura Markers. The papers, embellishments and design are all her own doing - I helped adhere ;). The Design Team also participated with their children - all tooo cute for words. Hope you can join us this week..

A few Pictures of our Trip

We really did have a lovely mini-vacation to St. George, Utah. The drive there and back is 10 hours and that can be challenging with two little girls but we did survive and came home with amazing photographs and video of spectacular scenery. While Kev attended a conference I was very fortunate to meet up with Cheryl who lives in St. George. We had such an awesome visit at a local scrapbooking store called: Pebbles in My Pocket (where I shopped to my hearts content! with Cheryl's help). If you have not visited Cheryl's blog, Cheryl June Girl, please do - her work is as gorgeous as she is (on the inside and out). Hope we get to do this really soon again Cheryl but this time the "treats" are on me - thank you ;)

Laura's Sketch for our Norwegian Pub

This is my interpretation of Laura's sketch 1 for the article in the Norwegian magazine Ett trykk. Laura and I each provided sketches and interpretations of those sketches for a 2 Sketches 4 You feature. This was the Magazine's anniversary issue and they boasted a gorgeous new chic look. You can see part of the fab new issues here: Ett trykk. Laura has posted her interpretation of her sketch on her blog: A Day in the Life of the Paper Poppy - it is a gorgeous card!

Happy Friday - I have a ton of catching up to do including getting my pictures off my camera from our fantastic Utah trip.

Celebrate

Good Wednesday Morning from St. George, Utah. We have had such a fun vacation so far and today, our last day, we will explore another beautiful canyon. I can't wait to share some pictures with you all. The girls and I also got to meet Cheryl yesterday. She is a very talented scrapbooker and cardmaker and happens to live in the area. I will post more about our visit and pictures after we return to Denver.
This week at Bitten by the Bug the team got to work with the Highway Sign from the Cartridge: Going Places. I loved this cut but most of all I loved the pieces produced by the Design Team - super cute and all so original. See for yourself here: BBTB

Yummy New Product

I was so excited to work with the gorgeous Paper from We R Memory Keepers as well as super cute matching embellies put together by Ali. This range is so fun and cheerful and perfect for so many occasions. All this and more can be found at Embellished Scrapbook Shoppe.
.
Tomorrow Kev and I are taking the girls on their first real road trip. We have driven with them to Nebraska which is only 4 hours away but now we are off to Utah and the trip should take between 8-10 hours. I am a little apprehensive driving such a far way with a 2.5 and 4.5 year old but I think we are loaded with all the goodies imaginable to keep them busy for the trip. I hope to arrive in St. George tomorrow night somewhat conscious to be able to do some updates on 2S4Y. If I am MIA you all know why ;)

Card reveal for our Norwegian Pub!

Recently 2 Sketches 4 You was featured in the Norwegian scrapbooking magazine Ett trykk. Laura and I were asked to create 3 sketches each and then make cards based on not only our own sketches but each others too. Aashild & Annie did a fantastic job showcasing the cards and sketches - I really hope this magazine hits American shores one day soon - it is gorgeous!

This week it is my turn to post as sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You. The whole Design Team each got to work with their very own Scor-it and Teresa Collins Paper. The makers of Scor-it have teamed with Teresa Collins and produced a fun product that all levels of cardmakers are going to love. The Die-cuts are so easy to use: just pop them out the sheet of paper, use your Scor-it to score along the marked sides, fold and voila! you have an instant card with fun paper embellies included to decorate as you please. There is a wonderful variety of styles and designs to choose from - the best part: You can win a Scor-it Mini and a set of Teresa Collins Die-cut Paper by playing along with us this week.

Happy Valentines Day

This card is made entirely of Rub-ons and Cardstock. I picked these rub-ons, from My Little Yellow Bicycle , up a few weeks ago. The great thing about them is that they are supposed to be layered - so you can add one on top of the other. I took it a step further and made a 3D Housewarming card - can anyone notice my "little" error? *lol* My husband did - right away - and we had a good laugh about it. Let me know ok :)
Valentine & Anniversary Kevin and I were married 11 years ago on Valentine's Day. This year we celebrated at the fantastic Venice Restaurant. Their meals are out of this world and the decor is so beautiful - even our waiter had the most charming Italian accent :) If you are ever in the Denver area I highly recommend you stop by - it is a real treat!
Here's wishing you all a wonderful Valentines Day too xoxo Kazan

Sweet Nothings...

I found this cute container filled with yummy goodies at Safeway. It was a 75% off clearance purchase after Christmas. I discarded the obvious Christmas icons (like a Santa image) and altered it to make a delicious Welcome Home package for someone special.
.
Project 35 of 365 02.04.09 .
Part of our bedtime ritual with our girls is Story Time with Mom. We all 3 pile onto our huge bed and snuggle up and read a story together. It makes bedtime such a pleasure because they race upstairs for fear I cancel Story Time if they whine or procrastinate :)
Project 36 of 365 02.05.09 .
We had such amazingly warm weather for February that the girls and I headed to the Zoo to take advantage of the sunshine. Even though half of Denver had the same idea we still had a blast. We even managed to see the Zookeepers feeding a dead mouse to a snake - I did get pictures but thought this one of the girls and a polar bear measured up just fine for this post :)
